Avery MC Cormick

Avery McCormick started his musical journey at the age of 7 when he joined a group called Sheltered Reality which played drums across the nation to raise awareness for homelessness. Since then, he has been involved in multiple concert bands and marching bands alike. Avery continued his musical journey at Kansas State University where he marched for 4 years in both the drumline and tuba section. Avery began instructing the percussion at McPherson High School and McPherson Middle School in both drumline, concert band, and percussion ensembles after leaving Kansas State.

While never having the opportunity to be a part of Drum Corps, Avery has always been in love with the organization. Last year, Avery was given the opportunity to join the Sky Ryders as part of their staff as the bass drum instructor. With this opportunity, Avery taught many students from across the midwest in the hopes that they would spread the word and experiences of the Sky Ryders to others who might be interested.

Currently, Avery is a part of the McPherson High School staff as the percussion instructor, and active member of the Percussive Arts Society, the Sky Ryders Performing Arts Foundation as the bass drum instructor, and a member of the startup Great Plains Wind Symphony based in Hutchinson, Kansas.
