Stephen Grimes

Stephen Grimes is an active educator and performer throughout middle and eastern Tennessee. As a native of Knoxville, Tennessee he chose to pursue a degree in music education at Tennessee Tech University. Here he specializes in percussion, studying under Dr. Colin Hill and Professor Jayce Clemons, performing with the university’s percussion ensemble, choir, jazz band, concert bands, and the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. 

Whilst studying concert percussion at school, Stephen pursued the marching arts, spending his weekends playing snare drum with Music City Mystique starting in the winter of 2023. He continued marching there, becoming a member of the leadership team until his age-out in 2026. 

In the summer of 2023, Stephen began his drum corps experience at the Blue Knights learning from Andrew McAfee and Jeff Ausdemore. He continued on to march with the Boston Crusaders for the summers of 2024 and 2025 led by Alex Beltran and Colin McNutt. 

Along with performing, Stephen has sustained a number of private lessons students and has taught at Bearden High School in Knoxville.
