Trace Woods
Trace currently lives in Wichita, KS with his wife and son. He is the Assistant Band Director at Wichita Northwest High School as well as a co-teacher for band at Marshall, Truesdell, and Pleasant Valley Middle Schools.
Trace started his musical career in Garden City, KS where he was involved heavily in both the vocal and instrumental programs. He received a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Kansas State University in May of 2019. While at KSU, Trace marched Cymbals and Bass Drum in the KSUMB and spent one year as a Student Staff member, heavily focusing on managing percussion equipment and cleaning up marching fundamentals. He spent several years as a percussionist in Wind Ensemble, played French Horn and Tuba in Concert Band, and played Trombone and Mellophone in Cat Band for basketball.
Trace marched his rook-out season with the Colts on Contra in 2016, and performed last summer on Bass Drum for the corps’ 60th Anniversary Alumni Corps.
Trace has served as a band camp staff member for various High Schools across the state helping with marching fundamentals as well as percussion. He has 5 years of experience as a High School Drumline Coordinator, 3 of which came with the Maize South Marching Band, which consistently makes Finals at the KBA State Marching Championships. Currently, as the assistant at Wichita Northwest, he is taking charge of percussion equipment management, instrument inventory, and marching fundamentals.
